Sovereignty in Jeremiah

Jeremiah 42:11-12 "Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Do not fear him, declares the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand. I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and let you remain in your own land"

God in His sovereignty decided to grant to the Judean Remnant mercy when the wicked monster Ishmael killed the Babylonian governor.  This is tremendously interesting in that God is displaying His sovereignty through His agent Nebuchadnezzar, by having Neb do the work, and bring the mercy. This verse comes to mind.

Proverbs 21:1- "The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He will."
